The Story of Pin Oak Gallery
PreservingYour Past...Framing Your Present...Gifting Your Future...

As a struggling Iowa artist, I was feeling the frustration of trying to teach, produce and market my own art.  I wanted a special place where Iowa artists could showcase their products.  Thus the inception of the Pin Oak Gallery.  It evolved through the years beginning as a small home studio to a retail space the summer of 1988 in Perry, Iowa.

The gallery's name comes from a small acorn that grows into a huge tree with many full branches.  Like the trees during the changing seasons, the Pin Oak Galllery changes with new creations and expressions while the "trunk and roots" remain strongly rooted in Iowa and its culture.

When my family relocated, I was given the great opportunity to search a new location for a gallery.  I found a unique storefront in the growing community of Waukee, IA.  The Waukee Downtown Triangle became home to the Pin Oak Gallery.  Family and friends helped with the remodeling and our grand opening during the Fall Festival of 1988.

After 20 years, despite numerous challenges and changes, the Pin Oak Gallery lives on.  Continously reflecting growth and change just like the Pin Oak tree.

The "Art of Giving" is our focus.  The Pin Oak Gallery continues to be a legacy to the past with deep roots in Iowa heritage and a need to grow like the mighty Pin Oak tree.
